Project Overview: The stomatology discipline has meticulously consolidated and formed eight stable core research directions. It focuses on conducting fundamental and clinical research that addresses the significant needs and scientific challenges in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of oral diseases. In particular, the fields of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, and Periodontology have conducted a series of original and forward - looking studies, leveraging the unique advantages of Yunnan’s abundant resources of plant-based medicinal materials, yielding remarkable and substantial achievements. Several research theories have been established, placing these areas in a leading position nationwide. This project aims to capitalize on the existing foreign cooperation resources and platform advantages of Kunming Medical University. It will summarize and expand upon the scientific, technological, and cultural exchange achievements amassed during the long-term cooperation with stomatological institutions in Southeast Asian countries. The project endeavors to explore an international scientific and technological cooperation model that integrates “projects, talents, and bases.” Guided by the construction concept of “launching a series of open experimental projects, jointly tackling a number of collaborative research topics, selecting and cultivating a cohort of collaborative talents, facilitating the transformation of a number of scientific and technological outcomes, and nurturing several key collaborative achievements,” it strives to achieve new breakthroughs in collaborative research and development within interdisciplinary domains such as oral organ tissue engineering materials and digital stomatology, so that the cooperation base will become the backbone in Yunnan’s work of utilizing stomatological science and technology resources and expanding the international influence of science and technology, and will play a leading and exemplary role in effectively leveraging international scientific and technological cooperation, thus promoting the expansion of scientific and technological openness and cooperation with South Asia and Southeast Asia.
