Stomatology (Five-year Program)
The School of Stomatology (Hospital) of Kunming Medical University was initially established in 1939, and the Department of Stomatology was independently founded in 1978. It is one of the 20 institutions in China that were the earliest to offer an undergraduate major in stomatology.
Training Objectives: Aiming at the multi-ethnic border areas, it aims to cultivate high-level applied stomatological medical talents who meet the development needs of local stomatological medical and health undertakings. Qualified graduates should develop comprehensively in terms of morality, intelligence, physique, aesthetics and labor. They should have noble moral character and professional qualities, possess solid basic medical theoretical knowledge as well as basic knowledge, theories and skills of stomatology. They should also have professional skills competent for stomatological clinical work and the ability of lifelong learning, be full of innovative spirit, have a sense of Chinese feelings and an international vision. After graduation, they can engage in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of common and frequently-occurring oral diseases in various medical and health institutions at all levels.
Core Courses of the Major: Oral Anatomy and Physiology, Oral Histopathology, Cariology, Endodontology and Operative Dentistry, Periodontology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics, Oral Implantology, Pediatric Dentistry, Preventive Dentistry, Orthodontics, and Oral Imaging.
